19 arrested at overnight sobriety checkpoint

Kansas City police and Jackson County deputies arrested 19 drivers overnight at a sobriety checkpoint.

Setting up in the 7700 block of Wornall Road, officers stopped 386 vehicles between 11 p.m. Friday and 4 a.m. Saturday, according to a statement from Sgt. Ronald Podraza, who supervises the police intoxicated driving section.

Podraza said three drivers were cited for driving while their licenses were suspended or revoked, and seven others were ticketed or arrested on a variety of other charges including, interfering with an officer, possession of a controlled substance and being a minor in possession of alcohol.
