Three men with a knife robbed a 17-year-old in town for the SkillsUSA competition as the teen walked around Westport on Thursday night, police said.

The victim, from West Virginia, was staying at a hotel in the 800 block of Westport Road and told police he left to look at the shops in Westport.

He said he was near a yogurt shop in the 400 block of Westport Road when three men walked up to him, pushed him against the building and demanded his money. One had a knife. After the victim gave them $100 from his wallet, the three men ran away.

The victim said he didn’t know where he was, so he walked around for about an hour before finding an open business, a pizza shop in the 200 block of West 39th Street, where he called police about 11:15 p.m. He told police he wanted to get back to his hotel because his adviser probably was looking for him. Officers gave him a ride back to his hotel.
