A decomposed body discovered Saturday in the Missouri River at the Shoal Creek Access in Clay County was identified as Cody M. Siwek, 20, of Overland Park.

The Missouri Highway Patrol said the body was recovered at 7:20 a.m. Saturday after being spotted by a fisherman. It was taken to the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s office for an autopsy. The patrol’s drug and crime control division is investigating.

Patrol spokesman Sgt. Bill Lowe said there were no indications the man died of anything other than drowning but it is being investigated because there were no witnesses.
