in an intimate ceremony Saturday night at his famous Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, Calif.
And their celebrity guests – there were several – tweeted the happy news.
“Let's give a Galactic shout out to Master George Lucas his bride Melodie on this, their wedding day,” tweeted Samuel L. Jackson, who played Jedi master Mace Windu in three of “Star Wars” flicks.
Ron Howard, who starred in Lucas-directed “American Graffiti,” told his Twitter followers that the “Bill Moyers service was beautiful, nothing short of profound. Congrats Mr. Mrs. Lucas.”
Moyers, who was a Baptist minister before becoming a journalist, told the couple: “It only takes one person to have met the love of your life.”
He quoted the 13th-century Persian poet Rumi: “When I heard my first love story, I was thinking of you.”
Van Morrison reportedly flew in from Ireland to perform at the reception, held on the Skywalker Ranch soundstage. Janelle Monae also performed.
Lucas, 69, and Hobson, 44, have dated since 2006 when they met at a business conference. They announced their engagement in January.
Hobson, the head of a Chicago-based investment management firm, is also a money and personal finance contributor for ABC News and chairman of the board of DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc.
This is her first marriage and a second for Lucas, who was married to film editor Marcia Griffin from 1969 to 1983. They adopted a daughter together and Lucas adopted two more children after they divorced.
His son, Jett, was the best man; his daughters, Katie and Amanda, were bridesmaids.
Longtime friend and collaborator Steven Spielberg gave a toast, joking that The Force finally has a name: Mellody.
