A water line break early Monday damaged a portion of 12th Street on the east side of downtown Kansas City.

The break in the 8-inch water line was reported about 2 a.m. near 12th and Charlotte streets, according to an email from Jennifer Kincaid, media relations coordinator for Kansas City Water Services.

Crews are working on the break and no businesses or consumers are affected by the water shutoff, she said.

Kansas City Water Services continually tests and repairs valves so businesses and consumers near breaks keep their water service, Kincaid said.

Repairs are expected to be completed by Monday afternoon.
