Summer officially arrives Friday and so does the Kansas City heat and humidit.
And it’s going to hang around awhile.
Temperatures are expected to reach into the lower to middle 90s Friday through the early part of next week, continuing a stretch of hazy, hot and humid weather, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill, Mo.
Because of high humidity from the recent rainfall, afternoon temperatures will feel more like the middle 90s to 100 degrees.
There won’t be much relief at night, with lows remaining in the lower to middle 70s.
The National Weather Service reminds people that temperatures inside a car on a 90 degree day can quickly climb to 120 to 150 degrees.
Children and pets should never be left unattended in or around vehicles and people should always check the backseat. The National Weather Service urges people who see a child in an unattended vehicle to call 911.
