Emergency rescue crews took to the Missouri River east of the Interstate 435 bridge late Wednesday after receiving a report that a person was in peril.
Authorities received the report shortly after 10 p.m. that a man was in the river near where it is joined by the Blue River. The Kansas City Fire Department and the Missouri Highway Patrol responded. About 20 minutes later crews located the man, who reportedly became hostile to rescuers. His condition was not immediately known.
