Independence police on Wednesday arrested two people in connection with the weekend theft of a bronze statue from the National Frontier Trails Museum.

Police spokesman Tom Gentry said investigators still have not recovered the life-sized statue of a pioneer woman that is believed to have been stolen for its scrap value.

The two people in custody have not been charged and the investigation is ongoing.
