A line of showers and thunderstorms are moving into the Kansas City area Wednesday morning.

Although the storms are not expected to be severe, they are expected to bring 1/4- to 1/2-inch of rain in some areas, according to the National Weather Service in Pleasant Hill., Mo.

The main focus of the storms as they move across the area will be southeast Kansas and southern Missouri.

Because of the rain, Wednesday is expected to be wet and cool with highs in the 70s, according to the National Weather Service.

Rain will likely end in the morning and possibly redevelop later in the afternoon.

After the storms dissipate, it will be dry for a couple days before the threat of thunderstorms return to the region Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
