You love her on the Internet. But will you plop down your hard-earned money to see Grumpy Cat at the movies?
The famous feline with the puckered puss has scored her own flick, signing a deal with Broken Road Productions, which made the Kevin James movie “Paul Blart Mall Cop” and Adam Sandler’s “Jack and Jill.”
Cat capers are sure to come, especially given her co-stars - reportedly Jack Black and Will Ferrell.
And she’ll even speak in the movie, just like live-action Garfield did in his 2004 movie.
Grumpy Cat — her real name is Tardar Sauce — exploded onto the Internet last fall when her owner’s brother posted a picture of her dour face on Reddit, where users quickly started Photoshopping captions onto the pic of the mixed-breed cat with the sour face.
“I thought I could not be more disappointed you proved me wrong.”
“There are two kinds of people in this world and I don’t like them.”
In a flash, those photos were posted millions of times all over social media sites. Grumpy Cat grew a following. Fans lined up to have their picture taken with her at the South by Southwest Interactive convention in Austin, Texas earlier this year.
She’s on a calendar, T-shirts and a forthcoming book, “Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book: Disgruntled Tips and Activities Designed to Put a Frown on Your Face.”
Grumpy’s talent manager, Ben Lashes, tells the Wall Street Journal that his client was not impressed with her upcoming big-screen debut.
“She hates movies,” he told the newspaper.
Of course she does.
