Authorities in the southeast Missouri town of Cape Girardeau say multiple people are dead following a shooting at a home.
The shooting happened around 8 a.m. Thursday. Cape Girardeau County Coroner John Clifton declined to say how many people were killed or offer any details of the shooting. Messages left by The Associated Press with police were not immediately returned.
Clifton would say only that there were "multiple" deaths and that the shooting occurred at a home.
The Southeast Missourian newspaper in Cape Girardeau reported several people were outside the home, embracing and crying. At least a half-dozen police cars were at the property.
Police spokesman Darin Hickey told the newspaper that everyone involved in the shooting was accounted for and there was no danger to the public.
