Horse is euthanized after trailer is hit in wreck in KC’s downtown loop

A horse was euthanized following a three-vehicle accident late Sunday along the downtown Kansas City loop.

The accident was reported at 11:43 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 670 in Kansas City, Kan. A vehicle pulling a horse trailer broke down, and as the driver pulled horses off the trailer, it was struck by another vehicle. A third vehicle then struck the rear of the second vehicle, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The injured horse was euthanized, according to news reports. The 64-year-old driver of the truck towing the horse trailer was treated at a nearby hospital for unspecified injuries. The accident remains under investigation, according to the Highway Patrol.
