A 21-year-old Leawood man was killed in a collision south of Lawrence in Douglas County late Friday night, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The man, identified as Brian Addison Boyd, was driving a 2001 Ford Explorer eastbound on Douglas County Road 458 about 10:50 p.m. At the intersection with U.S. 59, he failed to stop at a stop sign, according to the Highway Patrol report.

Boyd’s vehicle struck a 2010 Ford Edge being driven south on U.S. 59 by a Shawnee woman. His vehicle rolled and came to rest on its driver side against the guard rail. Boyd, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene. The other driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to a Lawrence hospital with injuries.
