A 60-year-old man has died from injuries he suffered last month when he ran into a car on Sterling Avenue near Interstate 70, Kansas City police said.

William J. Ankrom, who was believed to be homeless, apparently ran into the side of the moving car about 7 p.m. April 23. It appeared he was running across the roadway, police said. He died May 7 at a hospital.

The driver told police he was northbound in the left lane when he felt his car hit something. He had no time to react or avoid what he later learned was a pedestrian, police said. He called 911 and waited for police.
