Kansas road projects expected to cause delays this week

A crash attenuator replacement project will force the ramp from northbound Interstate 35 to northbound Interstate 635 to close Tuesday. Bridge inspections on the Lewis and Clark Viaduct will mean lane closures Wednesday through Friday.

Two road projects on the Kansas side of the metropolitan area are expected to cause delays for motorists this week.

Crews will close the ramp from northbound Interstate 35 to northbound 635 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday so that they can replace a damaged crash attenuator.

While work is underway, drivers should expect delays and will have to use alternative routes.

No marked detours will be provided. However, transportation officials suggest motorists take northbound I-35 to the 18th Street Expressway exit and then head back on southbound I-35 to get to northbound I-635.

On Wednesday and Thursday, the left lane of westbound Interstate 70 over the Lewis Clark Viaduct will be closed for bridge inspections.

On Friday, the right lane of westbound I-70 over the Lewis Clark Viaduct will be closed for bridge inspections.

The inspections will take place between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day, weather permitting.

Transportation officials warn drivers to expect delays during the lane closures and to allow extra time for their trips.
