About 100 Blue Valley Northwest students are suspended after being caught using school’s pool

The students were suspended for one and a half days for breaking into a locked area at the school at 13260 Switzer Road in Overland Park.

Administrators suspended about 100 students at Blue Valley Northwest High School after they were caught using the school’s pool.

The students were suspended for one and a half days for breaking into a locked area at the school at 13260 Switzer Road in Overland Park.

Blue Valley district officials declined to comment but issued a statement: “Blue Valley Northwest has great students, but sometimes even great students make poor decisions and consequences result. During the school day on Thursday, several students damaged a window and approximately 100 students gained access to a locked area and entered the pool after administration advised them not to and emphasized that there would be consequences if they did."

All students involved received the suspension.

“Based on the fact that students broke into a locked area, the district believes the response is appropriate,” the statement said.
