An outdoor Truman award ceremony scheduled Friday has been moved indoors.

The Harry S. Truman Award for Public Service, normally presented every year on the south steps of the Truman Library in Independence, instead will be presented in the library auditorium because of weather concerns.

The ceremony begins at 7 p.m. Friday at the library, 500 W. U.S. 24. Those attending should enter the library through its main entrance facing U.S. 24.

Receiving the award, presented every year by the city of Independence, will be Mike Mullen, retired U.S. Navy admiral and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.
