A Kansas City, Kan., man accused of attempting to drown two small children last year has pleaded guilty to aggravated kidnapping and criminal threat charges.

Lamonte J. Brown was scheduled to go to trial today on a charge of attempted murder, but he entered the pleas late Friday afternoon in Wyandotte County District Court. Brown, 24, is scheduled to be sentenced June 7.

Kansas City, Kan., police officers interrupted Brown in the act in January 2012 as he held a small child underwater in a bathtub. Officers shot Brown with a stun gun and wrestled the child away from him, according to testimony at a preliminary hearing last August.
