Prosecutors today charged a 14-year-old boy with aggravated battery for Tuesday’s shooting of a 6-year-old girl.

The boy, whom authorities did not identify, also is charged in the juvenile division of Johnson County District Court with being a juvenile in possession of a firearm. At a court hearing today, the youth was ordered held in juvenile detention until his next scheduled court appearance on May 6.

The shooting occurred in the waiting room of a Mission chiropractor in the 6000 block of Martway Street. The girl was shot in the leg and suffered non-life threatening injuries. The boy is her cousin.
