Jackson County prosecutors have accused a 27-year-old man of raping a 12-year-old girl last year in her bedroom and giving the girl a sexually transmitted disease.
The girl’s mother walked in as the man, a family friend, was pulling up his pants, according to court records released Wednesday.
Prosecutors charged Saliek A. Johnson with forcible rape and statutory rape in connection with the Nov. 1 attack in Kansas City. Police arrested him Tuesday. He remained in jail Wednesday in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
Court records allege that Johnson attacked the girl as she slept in the room she shared with another relative. The relative heard her crying and alerted the mother.
Johnson told police he had consumed a large amount of alcohol and cocaine that night and didn’t remember the entire evening, according to court records. He said he remembered being in the living room, then remembered the girl’s mother yelling at him. He was treated for chlamydia in 2007. The victim tested positive for the disease, the records said.
