A strong odor led to the evacuation Thursday afternoon of two buildings on the campus of the University of Kansas Medical Center.
The source: Smoke from an anatomy lab crematorium, a center spokesman said.
About 50 to 100 students, faculty and researchers were told shortly after 3:30 p.m. to leave Wahl Hall East and neighboring Lied Hall. No patients were involved in the evacuation. After firefighters determined the cause of odor, people were allowed back into the buildings shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The nature of the materials that had been incinerated in the crematorium was not immediately known, the spokesman said.
