Kansas City police arrested a suspected armed robber Wednesday night after he allegedly stole a purse from a woman outside her home in the West Plaza neighborhood.
The 36-year-old woman had parked her vehicle in the 4500 block of Holly Street about 6:15 p.m. when a gray car pulled up and a gunman stepped out.
“Give me your money, (expletive!)” the gunman said.
The woman threw her purse and lunch bag on the ground.
The gunman then asked: “Where’s the money?”
The woman stated the obvious: “Inside the purse.”
The gunman picked up the purse, climbed back into the car and fled.
Police later spotted the car near Volker Boulevard and Oak Street and the driver refused to pull over. Police chased the car a short distance until it crashed in the 5000 block of Euclid Avenue. Police arrested three occupants, one of whom matched the description of the gunman. The victim later identifed the 28-year-old man as the robber, according to police reports.
