Royals fans heading out for the 3:10 p.m. start of Monday's home opener should see overcast skies but springlike temperatures in the 60s, said Ryan Cutter, meteorologist at the National Weather Service office in Pleasant Hill.
The chance of rain Monday afternoon is small, about 20 percent, and the temperature should top out at about 70 degrees. Winds will be out of the south at 10 to 15 mph, Cutter said.
Before that, a chance of thunderstorms could interrupt activities in the Kansas City area late Sunday afternoon, with the possibility of storms increasing into the evening and overnight hours. If storms develop, some could be accompanied by large hail and brief, gusty winds.
"We can't rule that out," Cutter said.
