Two children were discovered unresponsive after a near-drowning incident Tuesday evening in Kansas City, Kan. Both were taken to a hospital in critical condition.
A police dispatcher initially said one victim had died, but a police spokesman said later that he could not confirm that.
The incident occurred in a home in the 2900 block of South 52nd Street. The spokesman said a relative, believed to be the mother of the two toddlers, called police at 5:48 p.m. to report an emergency. Police and fire crews responded.
Ambulance radio traffic indicated that at least one of the children had a pulse en route to the hospital. Police were continuing to investigate and were interviewing the relative. Officials were seeking a search warrant for the house Tuesday evening.
