Police identify 14-year-old shooting victim in KCK

The victim of a shooting in broad daylight Saturday in Kansas City, Kan., was identified Sunday as Miguel Garcia, 14, of Kansas City, Kan.
Garcia died after he was shot about 2:40 p.m. in the 1400 block of Armstrong Avenue. He and a 15-year-old companion were walking together when a black Ford Explorer approached them, according to police.
The teens reportedly got into an argument with the occupants of the SUV, which circled the block and returned to the area of 14th Street and Ann Avenue. They fired shots at the two teens, striking Garcia. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died of his injuries. The other teen was not injured.
The Kansas City, Kan., major case unit encouraged anyone with information about the suspects or the location of the black Ford Explorer to call the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
