Motorists should be aware that icy roadways are causing accidents all over the metro area this morning.
Temperatures in the mid-20s made for treacherous driving on both sides of the state line, north and south of the river. Police are responding to multiple accidents, including several on the Bond Bridge carrying commuter traffic on Interstate 35.
At around 8:40, the drive time on I-35 from Liberty to downtown was about an hour.
An SUV is reported on its side at Interstate 435 and Estwood Trafficway. Police scanners include chatter about a truck that slammed into a concrete barrier, cars upside down, and vehicles that slid into medians. An accident has slowed traffic on westbound Interstate 435 near Metcalf Avenue in Oveland Park. A wreck is also causing delays on eastbound Interste 470 near Lee’s Summit.
There is chance for more snow today with a high of 33.
