KC accident kills one at Union Station parking garage

A man exiting a Union Station parking garage was killed today as he leaned out of his truck’s open door, apparently after dropping something, and the vehicle lurched forward, pinning him.
Kansas City police said the incident occurred about 11:30 a.m. after the 68-year-old driver apparently dropped money outside the vehicle while leaving the garage.
He was reaching to retrieve the money when the accident occurred, according to police.
Two children were in the truck. They were properly restrained and were not injured, according to police.
The death was 11th fatal crash in Kansas City this year. There were 14 at the same date in 2012.
