A Missouri Highway Patrol trooper searching a car during a traffic stop found 9.5 pounds of marijuana and 6.25 pounds of marijuana candies hidden in the trunk.

The trooper stopped the 2013 Hyundai Sonata for a traffic violation on eastbound Interstate 70 about three miles west of Sweet Springs in Saline County, according to the highway patrol.

Because of inconsistencies and deceptive behavior by the driver and passenger, the trooper asked to search the vehicle.

After given consent, the trooper searched vehicle and found the drugs concealed inside the trunk, according to the highway patrol.

Randall E. Swallows, 46, and Andrew L. Manley, 22, both of Anderson, Ind., were arrested and charged in Saline County Circuit Court with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute it, according to the highway patrol.

Sweet Springs is about 30 miles northwest of Sedalia.
