Kansas City police have identified a pedestrian killed on Interstate 35 Sunday night after apparently walking in the path of several vehicles as Vir Tiu, 26, of New Jersey.

Tiu, a flight attendant, was staying at a downtown hotel. He apparently started jumping in front of northbound vehicles near Interstate 70 about 10:30 p.m., police said. Several motorists who avoided him called 911 to report a suicidal party on the highway. Eventually, at least three vehicles struck Tiu, police said. The drivers stopped.
