Cerner Corp. on Monday announced the purchase of Labotix Automation Inc., a Canadian company that provides technology services for clinical laboratories.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed, although Cerner said the purchase is not expected to materially impact its 2013 financial results.

Labotix, based in Peterborough, Ontario, was started in 1991, and has steadily grown in the laboratory automation market.

Cerner, the health care software company based in North Kansas City, said Labotix has the “experience, expertise and reliability necessary to meet the needs of any size laboratory.”
