Police arrest more than two dozen drunken drivers on St. Patrick’s Day

Twenty-seven people were arrested on St. Patrick’s Day in Kansas City for allegedly driving under the influence.

Kansas City police along with the Missouri Highway Patrol and Jackson County deputies stopped 1,127 vehicles at a sobriety checkpoint from 7 p.m. Sunday to 1 a.m. Monday at West 39th Terrace and Southwest Trafficway in the Westport area.

In addition drunken driving arrests, police reported that they had 5 people driving with a suspended or revoked driver’s license, 1 person was cited for careless driving and 3 people were cited for other traffic violations.

There were 6 people who were cited for possession of marijuana, 1 person for stealing and 2 people arrested on outstanding Kansas City warrants.
