The driver of a stolen car led Kansas City, Kan., police on a car and foot chase Friday afternoon before Highway Patrol troopers used a stun gun on him on Interstate 70.
The driver was arrested and taken to a hospital to be examined.
The incident began about 12:15 p.m. when a vehicle was stolen in the 2200 block of South 55th Street. The vehicle owner chased the driver before police began pursuing him. At times during the chase, the stolen car was traveling in the wrong lanes into oncoming traffic, officers said.
Officers reported speeds of 30 to 40 mph as the chase headed east on Central Avenue. Officers were ordered to stop the pursuit as the stolen car neared the state line, but the driver wrecked the vehicle shortly after that and took off on foot.
He eluded officers but was stopped by troopers while attempting to run across the interstate.
