Not all area competition this week is in basketball.
Area students are battling in science and robotics as well.
The work of nearly 1,000 students is on display at the Greater Kansas City Science and Engineering Fair at Union Station from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday.
Another 1,000 students will converge on Hale Arena for the FIRST Robotics Competition on Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Both events are free and open to the public. Parking is $7 for all day at Hale Arena. Fees vary at Union Station.
