Two women found dead of gunshot wounds Wednesday on a trail in western Shawnee were twin sisters who killed themselves.
Officials found a suicide note at their home in northern Johnson County.
Police named the sisters Friday afternoon and had to positively identify which body belonged to which sister through fingerprints. They were described as middle-age, and at least one of them wore dentures.
The women were believed to have driven together in a white PT Cruiser to a trailhead in Mill Creek Streamway Park at 6040 Barker Road. A passerby discovered the bodies about 3 p.m. on the trail about 150 yards into the wooded park. A gun was found near the bodies.
