Authorities expect to identify two middle-aged women who were found shot to death Wednesday in a Johnson County park sometime today.

Detectives are waiting for autopsy results and other evidence before releasing the names, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Jill Koch said.

The bodies were discovered on a wooded trail in Mill Creek Streamway Park by a passerby who notified police. A gun was discovered with the bodies and no suspect was being sought.

The park is in a remote part of Shawnee west of Interstate 435.
