Five & Dime General Store has opened its first area store in Kansas City, Kan.

The company’s slogan is “we got what you forgot.” The store, at 1843 Village West Parkway, Suite C-123, sells merchandise ranging from sunglasses and school supplies to cosmetics, novelties and non-prescription drugs.

Five & Dime General Store got its start in 1998 when it took over a former F.W. Woolworth Co. store in Santa Fe, N.M. It is still based in Santa Fe.

In a 2011 article, Stores, a national trade publication, called Five & Dime General Store a chain worth watching.
