Jackson County prosecutors today accused a 25-year-old man of participating in the killing of an alleged pot dealer in October.

Prosecutors charged Jerald W. Hendrix with second-degree murder, robbery and two counts of armed criminal action in connection with the Oct. 9 killing of Paul Piper, 26, on his front porch in the 3400 block of Indiana Avenue in Kansas City. Last year, prosecutors filed the same charges against the alleged gunman in the case, Prentice Wilson, 22, who remains in jail. Police arrested Hendrix Monday.

Court records allege Wilson had fought with Piper because Piper allegedly had gotten together with Wilson’s girlfriend. Wilson and Hendrix allegedly followed Piper home and intended to rob him of his drug money. But Piper reportedly tried to grab the gun and was shot.
