Teen hit by vehicle while walking near Shawnee elementary school

A vehicle struck a 14-year-old boy who was crossing the street near a Shawnee elementary school this morning.
The boy’s injuries were not believed to be serious, but he was taken to a hospital as a precaution.
The boy was crossing the street near Shawanoe Elementary School in the 11200 block of West 75th Street when the collision occurred about 8:20 a.m.
Police said the boy was hit while trying to cross West 75th near Flint Street. He was not in a crosswalk, which are at 75th and Quivira Road and at 75th just east of Flint.
Police do not believe the driver was speeding.
