A tow truck was among a number of vehicles reported stranded around the intersection of Kansas 7 and Kansas 10 in Olathe this morning.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported that roads across the county were essentially impassable.
“The plows just can’t keep up,” said Deputy Richard Howell.
Because of light traffic there were very few accidents being reported, but many cars were sliding off roads, he said.
In Kansas City, Kan., a stranded city bus was blocking northbound 7th Street Trafficway at Sandusky Avenue, police reported.
And about 8:15 a.m. Tuesday, the crew at one Kansas City, Kan., fire station was requesting a plow because trucks and an ambulance were unable to get back to their station.
Overland Park officials reported at 9 a.m. that plows have completed two passes on major thoroughfares and will continue to work to keep these streets clear. After the snow fall slows, plows will begin moving into residential streets in the city.
The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office reported that Shawnee Mission Parkway was shut down from Canterbury to Aberdeen because of emergency equipment working to repair power lines.
