KC Hopps Ltd. plans to open its third area Barley’s Brewhaus, this one in Leawood.

It signed a lease today for a 7,000-square-foot space in Cornerstone of Leawood, 5041 W. 135th St. The space was formerly home to Cheeseburger in Paradise, Tannahs and then 77 South. A May opening is planned.

Ed Nelson of KC Hopps said the space will be completely renovated and converted to the Barley’s Brewhaus concept for a “beautiful showplace.”

“It has two patios, a common area in back for private events.” Nelson said. “We love the parking, we love being in the southeastern corner of Johnson County, close to our Missouri fans. The building is gorgeous and has great curb appeal.”

The new restaurant and bar will have about 60 full- and part-time employees.

The Barley’s Brewhaus concept is known for its large selection of beers and made-from-scratch menu items.

There also are Barley’s Brewhaus locations in Overland Park and Shawnee.
