The Eagles and quarterback Michael Vick have agreed to terms of a restructured contract that will keep him in Philadelphia — and more to the point, out of Kansas City — for at least one more season.
So the list of potential Chiefs’ veteran quarterback acquisitions is down by one rather prominent name. I’m not certain the Chiefs would have made any kind of aggressive move for Vick even had the Eagles wanted to dump him. That Vick spent the last few games of last season on the bench for Andy Reid and the Eagles rather than in the lineup seems telling.
Vick would seem to make more sense in an offense designed by Chip Kelly than Reid, but it’s difficult to dismiss the success Vick had while playing for Reid, at least when he was healthy. And a potential solution to their quarterback dilemma is now gone, for this year at least.
