Two persons were arrested earlier Monday following a high-speed chase that started in eastern Jackson County and ended in Johnson County.

The incident began just before 9:30 a.m. in Lone Jack when Jackson County sheriff’s deputies followed what they believed was a stolen SUV. Authorities had earlier received two calls reporting suspicious activity. Deputies tried to pull the vehicle over but the driver sped away.

Deputies and a police helicopter pursued the vehicle. The chase continued into Kansas, where the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Lenexa Police Department and Kansas Highway Patrol joined in. Speeds reached up 100 mph.

Lenexa deployed stop sticks and the vehicle eventually stopped along a wooded area off of Kansas 10 at Cedar Creek Parkway. One person was immediately arrested. The second person was arrested a short time later.
