100 gallons of gas spills in Overland Park

Overland Park fire crews continue to monitor a large fuel spill that occurred early today at a Quik Trip.

The incident was reported about 4:15 a.m. at 9200 Santa Fe Road.

A fuel tanker driver was filing the gas station’s underground tanks when 100 gallons of fuel spilled into the parking lot and into a nearby storm drain. No injuries were reported.

Firefighters are monitoring the air in the storm drain to make sure there is no danger of explosion. The situation was safe about 6:45 a.m. The Kansas Department of Emergency Management and Johnson County Environmental also were alerted.
