Jackson County prosecutors on Thursday charged a second suspect in connection with the killing of Brandon J. Sloan, 28, last week during a robbery inside Sloan’s home.
Prosecutors charged Adrian E. Roberson, 20, of Independence, with ten felonies: second-degree murder, four counts of robbery and five counts of armed criminal action. Roberson surrendered to police Wednesday after saying “goodbye” to his relatives, according to court records. He is accused of going to Sloan’s home in the 8900 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with another man to buy marijuana from Sloan. Instead, they robbed Sloan and his friends. One of the robbers shot Sloan in the head after he balked at their request for him to lie on the floor, according to court records.
Prosecutors previously filed the same charges against Kelvin B. Taylor, 24, of Kansas City, who remains in jail.
