Kansas City police are seeking help to identify a man who robbed the Verizon Wireless Store in Westport Saturday and tied up an employee.

The suspect entered the store at 4040 Mill Street about 9 a.m., just after the store opened, and asked about transferring data between phones. As the employee answered his query, he pulled a silver revolver and demanded cash. He forced her into a stock room, grabbed a phone, then forced her into the showroom, where he ordered her on the floor and tied her legs and hands with a phone cord.

The robber emptied her purse, stole her cash and took her driver’s license.

“(Expletive!) I will come find you,” he told her. He took money from the cash register and fled.

He was described as a black man, about 5 feet 10 inches tall, 200 pounds, 30 to 35 years old with a chubby build, dark skin and short hair. He wore a brown coat, a black and brown fur-lined hat, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

Anyone with information should call the Tips Hotline at 816-474-TIPS(8477).
