Police have identified an 81-year-old Kansas City woman who was killed in a four-vehicle accident on Sunday as Rose A. Sivigliano.
The accident was reported about 2 p.m. on Interstate 35, just past 20th Street. Police said Sivigliano of Kansas City was driving a Hyundai Sonata and entered the northbound lanes of I-35 after going the wrong way on the Broadway exit.
The Sonata struck a northbound white pickup truck head-on around 20th Street. The pickup flipped and struck another northbound vehicle. A fourth vehicle, veering to avoid the pickup, then struck the front of the Sonata.
Sivigliano was pronounced dead at the scene.
The northbound lanes of I-35 were closed for more than three hours.
Police said it was the 71st vehicular fatality reported so far this year. There were 66 vehicular fatalities reported in 2011.
