Riverside police released a sketch this afternoon of the jacket worn by a man who grabbed a 13-year-old girl near her bus stop Monday morning and tried to drag her into a wooded area.

Witnesses told police the two-tone jacket was light on the top and dark on the bottom, with the two colors separated by horizontal stripes.

The suspect also wore jean-type pants and a hood covering his hair, police said. Witnesses described him as white or Hispanic, in his late 20s to late 30s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 9 inches tall, with a stocky build, and a pencil thin style beard and mustache.

The girl escaped after a woman noticed what was happening and yelled at the man. The man let the girl go and fled into the woods.

The 6:30 a.m. abduction attempt occurred near the bus stop in the 4900 block of Northwest Gateway Avenue.

The girl was walking along Gateway Avenue when the man approached her from behind and grabbed her.

Anyone with information is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at (816) 474-TIPS (474-8477).
