Kansas City police are trying to identify a gunman who apparently shot four teenagers early Sunday because they looked at him and his girlfriend.
The victims, ages 14 to 18, suffered non life-threatening injuries in the 1:10 a.m. incident at St. John and Hardesty avenues.
Police said the suspect and a female walked by a group of youths who were gathered near Budd Park. The suspect then said to the youths: “What are you looking at?”
He then pulled a shotgun and fired as the youths scattered. Pellets struck one victim in the back, head and arm; a second victim in the chest, hand, hip and leg; a third victim in the chest, back and buttocks, and a fourth victim in the back of his head.
One of the victim’s parents drove the victims to Children’s Mercy Hospital.
Two other teens apparently were not struck. Police could not find them, but they did not turn up at any hospitals, said Sgt. Martin Cobbinah.
