The Oceans of Fun water park has announced it will undergo its largest-ever expansion by adding six slides, with construction set to begin this fall.

The water park and attached amusement park Worlds of Fun, which will mark its 40th anniversary next year, will also combine admission to both parks into one ticket. All tiers of season passes available for purchase now include admission to both parks.

In addition to the new slides, Oceans of Fun will feature renovations to older water slides and pools, new stores, and more cabanas and lounge chairs.

The six new slides will be built in their own 65-foot-tall area that will look out onto Surf City Wave Pool on the southernmost edge of the parks. The new complex will showcase high-speed rides that feature flumes and tube slides. The additions will almost double the park’s slide capacity.

Guests can follow the progress on the park’s

Facebook and Twitter accounts, as well as its blog

. In addition, the park will release details as construction progresses.

The parks have added several rides since Worlds of Fun opened in 1973 and Oceans of Fun opened in 1982. The largest expansion of Worlds of Fun took place in 1984, when the Fury of the Nile water ride was built.
