A tow truck driver died Monday afternoon when a semi-tractor trailer struck him on Interstate 35 south of the Christopher S. Bond Bridge.
The 3:15 p.m. accident prompted police to shut down northbound I-35 traffic on the bridge.
Police reports indicate the tow truck driver was hooking a vehicle to his tow truck when the semi swiped him.
The wreck and subsequent highway closure caused traffic jams during rush hour. Another northbound route, U.S. 169, has been closed north of the Broadway Bridge for construction for several weeks.
